Nancy Mona Russell is an contemporary abstract painter. She completed her study in fine art painting in 1967. In the 58 years since then, she has continued to focus on colorful abstract impressionistic work. She has experimented with scale and maintained her joyous pallette. Her acrylic paintings start with a charcoal drawing on a gesso surface. Sometimes this is a road map, and others the drawing is only the departure. The surface, colors, and shapes take on a life of their own, a distillation of the experience of making the artwork.
